Thomas A. “Tom” Bayer
Thomas A. “Tom” Bayer, 66, of Butler passed away Thursday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 3, 1949, in Butler, he was a son of the late Charles and Naomi (Smith) Bayer.
He attended St. Wendelin Catholic School through eighth grade. He was a graduate of Butler High School and earned his Associates in Computer Technology from Butler County Community College.
He previously worked in the computer field for Nationwide Insurance, American Hardware, Youngstown Hospital and Spang. He also was employed by Linde Gases and was currently treasurer for Clearfield Township.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Butler. A member of the Happy Hunters Club and the Knights of Columbus, St. Wendelin.
He was an avid archery hunter and outdoorsman. He coached for East Butler baseball.
Surviving are his wife, Mary (Thompson) Bayer, who he married June 10, 1972; two daughters, Nichol (Kevin) Koegler and Jenna (James) Reeder, both of Butler; one son, T.J. (Nicole) Bayer of Butler; six grandchildren; two brothers, James (Lynn) Bayer of Butler and Richard (Dolly) of Fenelton; two sisters, Naomi “Teddy” Bayer of VA and Judy (Michael) Zaludek of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
BAYER — Friends of Thomas A. “Tom” Bayer, who died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Road, Butler, with the Rev.
