John T. Olcus

John T. Olcus, 88, of Kittanning Hollow died Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 25, 1927, in Kaylor, Pa., he was the son of Joseph C. and Elizabeth J. (Downs) Olcus.

On Jan. 27, 1951, John married the former Mildred Weibel. She preceded him in death March 13, 1998.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, John served with the E Troop 72nd Constabulary Squadron. He was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.

John worked for Michigan Limestone, Pullman Standard and independently drove trucks for many years.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on the family farm, yard work and visiting relatives and friends.

John is survived by one son, Greg Olcus and his wife, Nancy, of Sugarcreek Township; three sisters, Bessie Chemelli and her husband, Til, of Kittanning, Sara Young of Grand Haven, Mich., and Catherine Downing and her husband, Wilson, of Bradys Bend; one sister-in-law, Donna Olcus of Ford City; and his close friend, Patricia Mortimer of Rimersburg.

He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, John was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

OLCUS — A blessing service for John T. Olcus, who died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady, with the Rev.
