Peter Kovach

Peter Kovach, 87, of Butler, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Friday at the Transitions Healthcare Autumn Grove, Harrisville.

He was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Butler to the late Paul Kovach and Elizabeth (Prokop) Kovach.

Pete was a 1946 graduate of Butler High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 112th Infantry, 28th Division during the Korean War.

He worked at Armco, Butler Works, retiring with nearly 40 years of service.

Pete worked with the AARP as a volunteer tax aid for 30 years.

He was a member of the North Street Christian Church and was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his beloved wife, Phyllis, and continued dancing after her passing.

Mr. Kovach is survived by one son, Dennis L. Kovach of Butler; one daughter, Lynne A. Kovach of Butler; one sister, Ann McCaw of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis S. (Turner) Kovach, who he married June 6, 1952, and who passed away Dec. 24, 2007; three sisters, Margaret Carbone, Irene Biffiretti and Elizabeth Steen; and two brothers, Andrew Kovach and Paul Kovach Jr.

KOVACH — Friends of Peter Kovach, who died Friday, Jan 22, 2016, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services immediately will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Huber, pastor of the North Street Christian Church, officiating.
