Glenn L. Woods, Sr.

Glenn L. Woods Sr., 86, of Buffalo Township passed away peacefully Monday at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Glenn was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Lower Burrell. He was the son of the late Violet M. (Harpster) and Jacob M. Woods.

Glenn was a steel worker for US Steel Sintering Plant in Saxonburg for over 20 years, retiring in 1987. Glenn had also worked for a number of years as a coal miner.

Glenn enjoyed hunting, bee keeping, gardening, traveling, fixing up old lawn mowers and cars.

Glenn is survived by his son, Gary Woods of Akron, Ohio; his daughter, Debra (Donald) Knisley of Mogadore, Ohio; and his daughter-in-law, Kimberly Woods of Buffalo Township.

Glenn is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Tracy Deck, Sherry (Scott) Ohlin, Wade (Holly) Woods, Laura (Nick) Woods, Melinda (Rodney) Geffert, Brad Knisley and Katrina Woods; 15 great-grandchildren; and his three sisters, Virginia Logan of Sarver, Marie Altemus of Dallas, Texas, and Jean Alton of Fort Myers, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his son, Glenn L. Woods Jr., who passed in 1989; and brothers, Raymond, Clarence, Charles, Fred and James Woods.

WOODS — Family and friends of Glenn L. Woods Sr., who died Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
