Duke falls out of AP Top 25 pollFor the first time in more than eight years, Duke is not in The Associated Press Top 25.The Blue Devils are 15-6 and have lost four of five, including two home games. They had been in every men’s poll since the preseason rankings of 2007-08. The record run is UCLA’s 221 straight polls from 1966-80.Oklahoma is 18-2 and is No. 1 for the third straight week, receiving 45 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel on Monday. North Carolina is 19-2 and stays second, with 20 No. 1 votes.Villanova jumps three places to third and is followed in the top 10 by Maryland, Iowa, Xavier, Kansas, Texas A&M, Virginia and Michigan State.No. 24 Dayton and No. 25 South Carolina are this week’s newcomers, replacing Duke and Notre Dame.

Bronco players OK after bus accidentSANTA CLARA, Calif. — A team spokesman says nobody was injured after the Denver Broncos’ buses were involved in a minor accident following their practice at Stanford Stadium.The buses carrying players and staff were on their way back to the team hotel in Santa Clara when the accident occurred.Team spokesman Patrick Smyth said nobody was injured in the accident on the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 101, but he had no information on what caused the fender bender.

NBA’s Suns fire coach HornacekPHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns, mired in one of the worst stretches in their history, have fired coach Jeff Hornacek and promoted Earl Watson to interim coach.The Suns’ season has been swirling rapidly down the drain for weeks and Hornacek must have known his days as coach were numbered.The Suns finally fired him after the team ran its road losing streak to 14 games with a loss at Dallas on Sunday night.Watson was selected after interviews were conducted Monday with all three Suns assistants.

Oilers’ McDavid returning to actionEDMONTON, Alberta — Connor McDavid practiced with the Edmonton Oilers, and the rookie center says he is ready to return after breaking his left collarbone.The No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft got hurt when he was ridden hard into the boards in the second period of a 4-2 victory against Philadelphia on Nov. 3. He has missed 37 games, almost half a season. He’ll return to game action tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
