NFL players admit to health concernsAn Associated Press survey of 100 NFL players found that fewer than half think the league’s clubs, coaches and team doctors have the athletes’ best interests at heart when it comes to health and safety.Barely a third of the players with at least four years of experience, 35 percent, tell the AP they trust that their interests are being protected. That is far lower than the 71 percent of players in Years 1-3 who hold that positive outlook.

Browns’ QB Manziel investigated againCLEVELAND — Troubled Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel is being investigated by police in Texas following a disturbance during which he may have assaulted his ex-girlfriend.Manziel, who has had two tumultuous seasons in the NFL, was identified by Forth Worth police after they were called at about 2 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a possible assault at an apartment complex. The officers didn’t find the person who called, but they spoke to an unidentified 23-year-old woman who said she was “involved in a disturbance with her ex-boyfriend” earlier that night in Dallas.Sgt. Steve Enright later identified him as Manziel. There were no arrests, and it’s not clear if Manziel has yet been questioned.Police didn’t say if the woman was hurt. An ambulance was called, but she was not taken to a hospital.

Lions’ WR Johnson pondering futureALLEN PARK, Mich. — The Detroit Lions are still giving Calvin Johnson time to ponder his future.The team issued a statement saying it stands by its previous statement that supported Johnson, after ESPN reported that the superstar receiver told family, friends and Lions coach Jim Caldwell that he is retiring. ESPN did not name its sources.Johnson declined to say last season if he would restructure his contract, which calls for him to count $24 million against the salary cap in 2016.

Brewers, D’Backs swing major tradeMILWAUKEE — The Arizona Diamondbacks traded right-handed starter Chase Anderson and infielder Aaron Hill to the Milwaukee Brewers for shortstop Jean Segura and righty Tyler Wagner.The Brewers also got minor league shortstop Isan Diaz and cash in the deal.The 28-year-old Anderson was 6-6 with a 4.30 ERA in 27 starts last season. Hill has played 11 seasons in the majors and has hit .429 with four home runs in 10 career games at Miller Park.Segura hit .257 with six homers, 50 RBIs and 25 steals last season.
