Joyce Snyder Muscatello

Joyce Snyder Muscatello, 81, of Butler, formerly of North Washington, passed away peacefully on Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice surrounded by her family.

Joyce was born April 9, 1934, in Bruin.

She was the daughter of the late Martha (Slater) King and her late stepfather Thomas Paul Slater.

She attended Concord High School and was a well-known resident of North Washington and Butler. Joyce was a Catholic.

Joyce assisted in the operation of Muscatello's Place in North Washington for 33 years. In later years she also worked at the Rusty Nail, Morgan's Diner and Natili's North.

After her retirement, she was active in the foster grandparent program at the Butler Children's Center.

Joyce enjoyed traveling, cooking, spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and her numerous dogs and cats throughout the years.

She is survived by her children, Samuel (Karen) Muscatello of Baton Rouge, La., Carla Lowrie and her companion, Carl Reep, of Petrolia, Shelby (David) Hibbard of Butler, Tom Muscatello and his companion, Mim Terwint, of Chicora; her five grandchildren, Courtney, Jennifer and Lindsey Lowrie and Ashley and Matthew Hibbard; and seven great-grandchildren, Elijah, Zachery, Tyler, James, Kinley, Paislay and Maggie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are her brothers, William and Robert Slater of Hooker.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Schnell.

MUSCATELLO — As per her request, there will be no visitation and the funeral will be private for Joyce Snyder Muscatello, who died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015. Her family plans to hold a celebration of her life later.Arrangements are handled by Young Funeral Home of Butler.Memorials in Joyce's memory may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice or to the Butler County Humane Society.
