Lydia Bowers
Lydia Bowers, 88, of Slippery Rock, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born Sept. 12, 1927, in Duquesne, Allegheny County, she was the daughter of Larivon Kovel and Marie Teslin Kovel.
She married John P. “Jack” Bowers Sr. on June 15, 1946. They were married for 66 years until his death on Dec. 28, 2012.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne Bowers Bourquin and her husband, Larry of Sebring, Fla.; her son, Don Bowers of Slippery Rock; her daughter-in-law, Leah Bowers of Brownsville, Pa.; six grandchildren, John P. Bowers III, Shawn Bourquin, Jeff Bowers, Diane Bourquin Czajka, Lilith Bowers Colamarino and Natasha Bowers; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews across the country.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, John P. Bowers II; her grandson, Brian C. Bourquin; five brothers, Joseph Kovel, Harry Kovel, John Kovel, Nicholas Kovel and Andrew Kovel; and three sisters, Anne Kovel Nordine, Mary Kovel Kesby Boes and Dorothy Kovel Brault.
