Leona Dick

Leona Dick, 92, passed away Thursday morning at Golden Hill Nursing Home.

Born Jan. 9, 1923, in Wampum, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James and Madaline Pecore.

On Jan. 26, 1943, she married her beloved husband, Stanley Dick, and the two spent over 35 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death March 2, 1978.

In her earlier years, Leona worked as a licensed practical nurse for the Jack Reis Nursing Home. She then worked as a private duty nurse. She later retired from VA Butler Healthcare.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Leona enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and completing crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Leona is survived by her children, Madeline McQuistion and her husband, David, of Butler and Julia Conti and her husband, Frank, of New Castle; her daughter-in-law, Karen Dick of New Galilee, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Darrell S. Dick and John S. Dick; and her great-granddaughter, Isabella Dick.

The last of the Pecore siblings, she also was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose Wasilewski, Mary Murphy, Jennie Wrona Kirkwood, Julia Pelloni and Frances Fair; and her brother, Michael Pecore.

DICK — Visitation for Leona Dick, who died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home aND Crematory, 941 S. Mill St., New Castle.A procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, officiated by the Rev. Larry Adams. Entombment will take place at the Resurrection Mausoleum.Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.decarbofuneralhome.com.
