Officials seek public's help to ID bank robber
CRANBERRY TWP — The township police and the FBI are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who Wednesday afternoon robbed the First Niagara Bank on Route 19 in the township.
A press release from the FBI on Thursday said a white man acted alone when he entered the bank at 2:25 p.m. holding a gun in his left hand. The man demanded money from the bank tellers, who gave him an undisclosed amount of cash.
The robber then left through the front door. He was last seen walking behind the neighboring Giant Eagle, which is southwest of the bank in the Cranberry Mall.
The robber is described as 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, and stocky.
He is about 30 years old, and was wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt, gray sweat pants, a baseball hat with a blue bill, sunglasses, gloves, boots and a red plaid scarf around his face.
The robber carried a black string-drawn bag with an unknown logo.
The press release said a reward is available for information leading to the man's arrest and conviction.
Bank officials on Thursday did not return calls for comment.
Those with information on the suspect can call the FBI's Pittsburgh office at 412-432-4000. Calls will be accepted 24 hours per day.
Tipsters may remain anonymous.
