Bryant no longer considering OlympicsMIAMI — Kobe Bryant decided to drop out of consideration for a spot on this summer’s U.S. Olympic basketball team.Saying it was time to pass the torch to others, Bryant revealed his decision Saturday. The five-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist had previously said he wanted to experience the games one last time, and likely would have gotten strong consideration for a spot on the U.S. team that will head to Rio de Janeiro this summer.Bryant made the announcement in Salt Lake City before the Los Angeles Lakers’ game there against the Utah Jazz.

Bulls lose Noah for rest of seasonCHICAGO — Joakim Noah likely has played his last game this season. Now the question is whether the two-time All-Star has played his last game for the Chicago Bulls.Noah dislocated his left shoulder Friday and will undergo surgery. The team estimates the recovery period at four to six months, which means his season is probably over.The 30-year-old Noah also is in the final year of a five-year, $60 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent after the season. Before the injury, there was talk the team would explore dealing the eight-year veteran before the trade deadline.

Mularkey staying as Titans’ coachNASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans have hired Mike Mularkey as their head coach, choosing to keep the man who handled the final nine games after they fired Ken Whisenhunt.The Titans announced Saturday they decided to remove the interim tag, just hours after wrapping up their fourth and final interview for the job.Mularkey becomes the 18th coach for this franchise overall, and Tennessee’s third since Jeff Fisher left in January 2011. Mularkey also was head coach for two seasons with Buffalo and one in Jacksonville. He is 18-39, including a 2-7 record after replacing the fired Ken Whisenhunt on Nov. 3.

Colts’ Marchibroda dead at 84INDIANAPOLIS — Former Colts coach and broadcaster Ted Marchibroda died at age 84.Team officials made the announcement Saturday after confirming the death with his family.Marchibroda coached the Colts twice — in Baltimore from 1975-79 and in Indianapolis from 1992-95. He led the Colts to the playoffs three times in Baltimore and once in Indianapolis before returning to Baltimore as the Ravens’ first head coach.Marchibroda went 87-98-1 in his career, including a 2-4 mark in the playoffs.After finishing with the Ravens in 1998, Marchibroda spent the next seven seasons working on Indy’s radio broadcasts.Orioles, Davis inking big contractBALTIMORE — Multiple people with knowledge of the situation say Chris Davis has agreed to a seven-year, $161 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, pending a physical.The 29-year-old Davis has been with Baltimore since 2011. He hit a major-league leading 47 home runs and amassed 117 RBIs last year. Davis became a free agent after the 2015 season.
