Lavina Mary Barnes, 86, of East Butler passed away Monday afternoon in the comfort of her home.

Born Jan. 10, 1929, in Parker, she was the daughter of the late William and Arley Snow (Slaughenhaupt). Lavina was a devoted wife for 50 years and a loving mother to her children.

Lavina retired from American Hardware in the mid-1980s.

She was a member of the East Butler Presbyterian Church. Lavina attended the Butler Life Program for the past 5 years.

She enjoyed doing crafts and playing bingo. She also enjoyed her three Pugs, who sat on her lap daily, and talking to her bird, Angel.

Lavina is survived by one sister, Emma (Snow) Nichter and her husband, Leonard, of Butler; her sons, Bryan Barnes and his wife, Paula, of Boyers and Barry Barnes of East Butler; six grandchildren, Brandon, Garrett, Spencer, Tyler, Brian and Leah; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Lavina was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert “Snooks” Barnes; her daughter, Marcia Barnes; and her sister, Fanny (Snow) Ervin of Tampa, Fla.

BARNES — There will be no visitation for Lavina Mary Barnes, who died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015.A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the East Butler Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mary J. Kitchen, pastor, officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be made to the THOMAS M. SMITH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 930 Center Ave., Blawnox, PA 15238, to help offset final expenses.
