Brother accused of identity theft
JACKSON TWP — An Evans City man is accused of attempting to cash checks that he stole from his brother.
James Hauserman, 36, is charged with multiple counts of felony identify theft, forgery, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.
Hauserman was arrested Tuesday by Jackson Township police at Bilo foods on Route 19 where he allegedly was trying to pass a bad check, according to court documents.
He told police that the check was a paycheck from his brother, who he works for. After talking to the brother, police said that Hauserman gained access to his brother’s house through subterfuge and took checks from a closed account. He also was allegedly in possession of a crack pipe and faces misdemeanor drug charges.
He is in Butler County Prison and is scheduled to appear Tuesday in district court.
