CLARION — Three New York City police officers who were on their way to Ohio to pay respects to a fallen K9 helped rescue a woman in an overturned ambulette in Western Pennsylvania.

Officers Benny Colecchio, Daniel Rich, and Matt Wizelinski left New York City Thursday afternoon to attend the memorial service in Canton, Ohio for K9 Officer Jethro. Jethro was shot and killed by a suspect over the weekend.

They came upon the ambulette in Clarion. A woman in a wheelchair was trapped inside.

Colecchio says road conditions were so poor that they stopped a quarter mile up on Interstate 80 and ran back to the crash. He says they used equipment in their cruiser to free the woman.
