Suspects in EC shooting denied bail at hearing
EVANS CITY — The two men accused of shooting another man in an attempted robbery last week will remain in Butler County Prison.
Jahote C. Dorsey, 21, and Joshua D. Norris, 30, both of Butler appeared in district court Tuesday. They are both charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Norris allegedly shot Oliver Philogene in the arm on Saturday at his apartment.
Both men waived their cases to court and they are scheduled to appear in Butler County Court on Feb. 23 for their formal arraignment.
The suspects, both represented by court-appointed attorneys, also requested that District Judge Wayne Seibel set a bail amount so they potentially could be released from prison.
However, Seibel declined to set bail, deferring to the county court.
A county judge may decide to reduce the charges or set bail next month, he said.
