Ex-worker accused of vandalism at former company
JACKSON TWP — A disgruntled ex-employee is accused of returning to the trucking company where he had worked and deliberately driving a rig into a concrete block barrier.
Jackson Township police say 59-year-old Joseph W. Vesel of Wexford caused more than $5,000 worth of damage to the 2000 Kenworth truck at Reinsfelder Inc. on Plunkett Drive on Nov. 13 during the suspected act of vengeance.
Officials for the company, which specializes in flatbed, oversize and heavy-haul loads, called police after surveillance footage allegedly caught Vesel in the act, said Jackson Township Police Chief Terry Seilhamer.
The video shows the truck hitting the large concrete block. Company president Edward Haser Jr. and other employees noticed the driver bore “a striking resemblance to the defendant,” according to court documents,
Haser told investigators that he had ended Vesel’s truck driving employment the previous day. Upon his firing, Vesel was told not to return to the business.
However, he did not heed the Nov. 12 instruction, police said, and instead apparently sought retribution against his one-time employer.
He is accused of causing $5,675 in damage to the rig.
“The truck sustained damage to the front bumper and front passenger side fender areas,” Seilhamer said.
Vesel turned himself in to police Monday at the office of District Judge Wayne Seibel in Evans City, where he was arraigned on a felony count of criminal mischief and a summary count of trespass.
He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.
