Eleanor B. (McGarvey) Hazlett, 106, of Butler, formerly of Karns City, went to her heavenly home early Friday morning at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born on Aug. 13, 1909, in Sherrett, Armstrong County, Eleanor was the daughter of the late William and Mary Early McGarvey.

Mrs. Hazlett attended elementary school in Bradys Bend and graduated from East Brady High School in 1928.

She was married in Chicora on June 6, 1940, to Cloyd F. Hazlett. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1973.

Eleanor was a longtime member of the Karns City United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are a daughter, Barrie Lee Beck of Bay Harbor Islands, Fla.; four grandchildren, Marcella L. “Marcy” Huey and her husband, Roderick P., of Butler, Beth A. Jackson and her husband, Jeff, of Bend, Ore., Erin S. Cline and her husband, U.S. Army Chaplain Harold Cline, of West Point, N.Y., and Peter H. Fugini and his wife, Crystal, of Clarksburg, W.Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Nathan and Christopher Huey, Carly and Patrick Cline, Hannah, Taylor, and Owen Fugini and Triston Lane; two sisters, Sarah Shaffer of Jenison, Mich., and Hattie Belle Williams of Karns City; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by two sisters, Madge Bowser and Alda Mae Edwards; three infant brothers; two sons-in-law, Carl P. Fugini and Capt. George A. Beck, USNR ret.; two nephews, Kirk Edwards and Ronald Ridley; and a niece, Maxine McElravy.

HAZLETT — Friends of Eleanor B. (McGarvey) Hazlett, who died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Karns City United Methodist Church, 117 Petrolia St., Karns City, with the Rev. Jim Lewis, church pastor, officiating. There will be no viewing at church.Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.Memorial contributions may be made to the Karns City United Methodist Church, P.O.
