Court: Police must live within Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — A divided Pennsylvania appeals court is restoring a requirement that Pittsburgh police officers live within the city limits.

Commonwealth Court ruled 4 to 3 on Thursday that an arbitration panel shouldn’t have inserted a clause into the police union contract that’s let officers live within 25 miles of the City-County Building.

Police union lawyer Bryan Campbell says the organization will seek a Supreme Court appeal.
