Retailer leaving Clearview

A Dick's Sporting Goods store will open at the new Greenwood Plaza in Butler Township in February.
Mall says it has a replacement

CENTER TWP — One of the Clearview Mall’s largest stores is moving out, but mall officials say a replacement is lined up.

Dick’s Sporting Goods is relocating to its new store at 400 Greenwood Plaza in Butler Township. That store will open in February, according to a press release from Dick’s.

Mara Mrvos, a spokesman with J.J. Gumberg Co., Clearview’s parent company, said Dick’s lease there expires at the end of January, but added the mall has a new store to take its place.

“We do have a replacement tenant for Dick’s but we are not yet in a position to release any further details,” she said in an e-mail.

Dick’s, a sporting goods retailer based in Pittsburgh, is moving to a new development near Butler Crossing that will have a Mattress Firm store and a Starbucks coffee shop.

Dick’s plans to have about 50 full- and part- time employees at its new store. The company has 645 stores nationwide.

Dick’s relocation isn’t the only change happening at Clearview.

Mrvos said the Mexican restaurant Compadres is slated to open there this spring. The restaurant will be in the 7,000 square-foot space that had been occupied by different Asian restaurants in recent years.

Last year, Clearview had another anchor tenant change. Rural King, an Illinois-based farm supply store, opened its 107,000-square-foot store in August, replacing the Bon Ton department store.

Other anchor stores at Clearview are Sears, Boscov’s, J.C. Penney and T.J. Maxx.
