Raymond L. Christy

Raymond L. Christy, 73, of Parker, formerly of Butler, passed away at 8:56 p.m. Tuesday at the Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born Jan. 19, 1942, in Butler to the late Cecil Christy and Cathryn (McCool) Christy.

Raymond worked in the carpentry department at Butler Armco Steel for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing and living his life-long dream along the Allegheny River.

Raymond was a Lutheran.

He is survived by three sons, Chuck Christy and his wife, Lynda, of Hilliards, David S. Christy and his wife, Lori Richeal, of Stoneboro, Pa., and Jeffrey Christy and his wife, Martha, of West Sunbury; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Christy of Butler; one brother, Ken Christy of Butler; two sisters, Gladys Cousins of Evans City and Emma Eckenrode of Callery; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Christy, who he married Dec. 16, 1963, and who passed away Oct. 21, 2001; his son, Kenneth Leroy Christy; two sisters, Catherine Ann Hilliard and Mary “Sis” DeFelice; three brothers, Donny, Jim and Bob Christy; and his daughter-in-law, Missy Christy.

CHRISTY — Friends of Raymond L. Christy, who died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Belden, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Slippery Rock, officiating. Burial will take place at the Rosewood Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
