Donna Adams Cooper Compton

Donna Adams Cooper Compton, 83, of McBee, S.C., peacefully passed away Nov. 23 at the home of her son, “Chip” Cooper of Hartsville, S.C., following a brief illness.

She was born July 4, 1932, in New Castle, to W.C. Adams Sr. and Mae LaRue Schrecongost Adams. The family moved to Butler a few years later. Donna graduated from Butler High School in 1952 and later attended college in Orange County, Calif.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and took pride in doing the repairs and repainting of several statues for the church. She enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Germany, and was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. Donna was happiest when spending time with her family or tending to her flower gardens.

She is survived by two sons, “Chip” Albert H. (Kathleen) Cooper III of Hartsville, S.C., and Charles P. Cooper, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters, Donna L. (Michael) Boggs of Tracy, Calif., Nancy L. (Weichey) Cooper of Summerville, Pa., and Crystal K. Humphreys of Owasso, Okla.; two brothers, Paul H. Adams of Butler and W. Charles Adams Jr. of Redondo Beach Calif.; one sister, Louise (Adams) Spohn of East Butler; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

COMPTON — In keeping with the wishes of Donna Adams Cooper Compton, who died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, a private service will be conducted.
