Jail break suspect caught by policeWAYNESBURG — Police said they’ve arrested an inmate who escaped from Greene County Prison over the weekend with the help of his sister.Authorities said a state police helicopter spotted Waylon Hodge Hanlan, 27, Tuesday afternoon riding in a Honda Civic in Dunkard with his two brothers. Hanlan was taken into custody following a brief foot chase. One of the brothers was also arrested, but the other is still at large.He was arraigned on escape charges and returned to prison. Authorities said Hanlan fled from the Waynesburg facility just before 8 p.m. Sunday. He’s been behind bars since Dec. 11 on a probation violation. Troopers said Harlan climbed a fence and ran into the woods where his sister waited in a car. She faces hindering apprehension charges.

Police say man faked having tumorOIL CITY — Police say a man faked having a brain tumor to trick a church and some friends out of nearly $3,000 in cash and other assistance. The Oil City police determined 36-year-old Matthew James Wilson created “an imaginary, fictitious brain tumor.”The Franklin man allegedly used the story to borrow money from an Oil City church, its pastor and others to deal with the tumor and other debts.Police filed charges of theft, receiving stolen property and forgery against Wilson.
