Robert J. Huslinger

Robert J. Huslinger of Stony Point, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Nov. 23 at the age of 88.

Robert is survived by his brother, Wallace Sychak; and sister, Janet Sychak; children, Robert W. (Rhonda), Stephen (Ellen), Mary Jeanne Drescher (Fred), Kevin (Esther) and Christopher (Joan); 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert J. Huslinger; his mother, Marie Sychak; his stepfather, Wallace Sychak; his brother, Donald Huslinger; and his loving wife, Eileen.

Robert was born on Aug. 17, 1927, in Butler to Robert J. and Marie. He graduated from Butler High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He met Eileen and they married in August of 1947. They moved to Stony Point and began a family.

He was employed by Lederle Labs for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He worked for the Stony Point Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 2015.

He was an active member of the Wayne Hose Fire Company in Stony Point for 67 years and the New York State and Rockland County Volunteer Fire Police associations for more than 25 years.

He served as chaplain for both associations. He was a longtime volunteer at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, serving as lector and Eucharistic Minister.

HUSLINGER — Wake services for Robert J. Huslinger, who died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday at the Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point.A firematic service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church followed by interment at St. Peter's Cemetery, Haverstraw, N.Y. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Robert's life.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Hospice of Rockland, the Wayne Hose Fire Company and your local veterans organizations.
