2 men arrested for robbing pizza shop in city
Holding a gun and a knife, a Butler man allegedly robbed a West Penn Street pizza shop Wednesday night.
But it was the victim, the owner of the Fox's Pizza, who got off a shot.
No one was injured, and by this morning police had arrested the alleged robber and his accomplice: Kevin D. McMillen, 25, and Dustin J. Harvey, 24.
According to court records, the incident occurred about 10:45 p.m. when Alan Miles, pizza shop owner. told police that a tall, thin male wearing a white sweat shirt entered the store and told him to turn over the money in the cash register.
The robber was holding a knife in his left hand and a black revolver in his right hand, according to court documents.
Miles gave an undisclosed amount of money to the robber, who ran outside and got in a gold van at the intersection of Broad and Brady streets.
According to court records, Miles grabbed a handgun, ran outside and fired one shot toward the vehicle as it drove away.
City police saw a gold van in the area shortly before the call and were able to trace the license plate to a Saxonburg woman. State police called the woman, who told them she had sold it to Harvey, who is her nephew.
City police went to Harvey's West Brady Street apartment and found a gold Dodge Caravan.
Harvey allowed officers to enter the home and told police that his roommate, Kevin McMillen, borrowed the van but was not home.
McMillen's brother, Jeffrey McMillen, was there.
While searching the home for Kevin McMillen, police found the white sweat shirt matching the description Miles provided. Harvey then told police he needed money for Christmas, according to court documents.
Jeffrey McMillen told police he was home playing video games all day and that he overheard his brother and Harvey say they robbed Fox's Pizza and a guy shot at them.
Kevin McMillen on Thursday was charged with a felony count of robbery — threat of immediate serious injury.
Harvey was charged with criminal conspiracy to commit robbery. Both are in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail each.
Jeffrey McMillen was not charged.
