A friend for everyone — that's what Lily Cosme wants this holiday season.

Lily, 9, who attends Butler Catholic School, was one of four elementary students who were announced as winners of a Pittsburgh law firm's “My Holiday Wish” Coloring Contest.

In addition to bragging rights and prizes of their own, each student received a $1,000 donation to their schools and their artwork is featured on the law firm's holiday greeting card. Lily's illustration is the cover image.

The winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges: Ing Kalchthaler, the youth services coordinator at Shaler North Hills Library; Myrna Rosen, an internationally recognized calligraphy artist and adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon's School of Design; Hana Haatainen Caye, the blogger at the Green Grandma blog and an author; and Melissa Reese, a materials and museum educator at Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

Lily walked away with the grand prize. She received a $250 Visa gift card in addition to the donation made in her honor to her school.

“That everyone will have a friend!” is Lily's holiday wish, which shows a string of friends holding hands with each other, including a couple of animal friends.

“I saw people getting bullied in school, and it seemed like they didn't have many friends,” Lily said when asked about her drawing's inspiration. “I want everyone to have a friend.”
