Woman arrested after police find suspects in her apartment
Five state troopers came knocking on Cynthia S. Noland's apartment door.
By the time they left, the troopers had arrested Noland, 55, and captured two suspected felons she allegedly tried to hide at her home in the 200 block of East Brady Street.
Police said they went to Noland's apartment in Butler on Sunday on the hunt for Chad M. Undercuffler, who was wanted on a felony arrest warrant for theft and forgery in Center Township.
When Noland answered the door, she didn't expect to see police, let alone five troopers. They were looking for Undercuffler, 23, of Parker.
“Geezus, what's he wanted for, murder?” she asked,
Following her “smart remark,” as police described it in an affidavit filed with their criminal complaint, Noland insisted Undercuffler was not there.
She eventually allowed two Butler police officers into her apartment to “prove” no one was home, documents said. Instead, the officers immediately spotted two men, Austin J. Rusch and another man.
The other man revealed Undercuffler's whereabouts — in a closet.
It also turned out that Rusch, 21, of Petrolia was wanted on a felony arrest warrant for theft and forgery in Fairview Township.
Police took the two wanted men into custody.
Noland was arrested on multiple felony counts of hindering apprehension or prosecution.
The other man was not charged.
