Police drop, file charges in case

Brother accused of pointing gun

MARION TWP — State police on Friday withdrew charges against a Boyers man accused of brandishing a gun during a road rage incident and refiled the case against his brother.

Joseph L. Arblaster Jr., 42, on Dec. 3 was charged with terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct after he allegedly pointed a handgun at another man during a road rage incident in the township in June.

However, state police on Friday withdrew the case against Joseph Arblaster Jr. before filing the same charges against his brother, Brian K. Arblaster, 38, also of Boyers.

It is not known what caused the change in charges.

A story about the incident was in Friday’s Butler Eagle.

The alleged incident occurred on Boyers Road at about 9 a.m. on June 26.

Police said a car driven by James Goerhing passed a minivan driven by Crystal G. Arblaster, 38, of Boyers. A short time later, Goerhing stopped to avoid hitting a deer on the road. Police said the chain-reaction incident, in which Arblaster was forced to suddenly stop, apparently sparked the road rage and caused the suspects to chase after Goerhing’s car.

Goerhing eventually pulled into the parking lot of Butcherine’s Beer Distributor on Route 308.

Crystal Arblaster got out of the minivan and approached the driver’s side window of the car and started “cursing and yelling” at Goerhing, a police affidavit said.

The alleged victim grabbed a digital camera and videotaped what police called the woman’s “rant.”

Documents originally filed Dec. 3 said a man remained in the passenger seat of the minivan and pointed a handgun at Goerhing. Police originally identified that man as Joseph Arblaster.

Both defendants later drove away and no one was injured.

Crustal Arblaster was charged with disorderly conduct.
