Mary Koszela
Mary Koszela, 96, formerly of Worthington Avenue, New Castle, passed away Sunday evening at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Mary was born July 10, 1919, in Lyndora. She was the daughter of the late George and Eva Jabol.
Mary married Walter Koszela, and they were married for 37 years. He preceded her in death March 26, 1978.
Mrs. Koszela was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church. Mary made pierogi for many years at Holy Trinity with her friends and fellow church members. She belonged to the Ladies Blessed Sacrament Society at Holy Trinity. Mary had a love of others, but most of all, she loved the church and God.
Mrs. Koszela was the manager at W.T. Grants Department Store in New Castle for more than 20 years. She also worked at Butler Steam Laundry.
Mary enjoyed gardening, crafts, crocheting, knitting and making angels. She was known for her Pysanka, making decorative Easter eggs in the Ukrainian tradition. Mary loved to cook for her family, and never missed a birthday party for her children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her two children, Evelyn (Frank) Antuono of New Castle and Ronald (Kay) Koszela of Girard, Ohio; four grandchildren, Karen Chappel, Frank (Roni) Antuono Jr., David (Lena) Antuono and Stephen (Lisa) Antuono; three step-grandchildren, Mike (Lisa) Davis, Scott (Andrea) Davis and Shawn Davis; seven great-grandchildren, Frankie, Anna, Joey, Adriana, Gabriella, Stevie and Adrienne Antuono; and 10 step-great-grandchildren, Connor, Blake, Cody, Marie, Raphael, Cash, Grayson and Maddie Davis, and Erica and Austin Walley.
In addition to her parents and her husband Walter, Mary is preceded in death by her two brothers, John and Mike Jabol, and her sister, Anna Durkiss.
KOSZELA — Calling hours for Mary Koszela, who died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, are 4 to 8 p.m. today at Noga Funeral Home, 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today by the Rev. John A. Rencewicz II.The Blessed Sacrament Society will honor Mary by conducting a prayer service following the Rev. Rencewicz's.A procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home to Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev.
