Gladys Gillespie
Gladys Killmeyer Gillespie of Butler and Vero Beach, Fla., passed away Friday.
Gladys was born on Feb. 28, 1924, to Joseph Steinhardt.
She was a graduate of Allegheny High School and attended Robert Morris Business College.
She was blessed to be married to two wonderful men, Fred J. Killmeyer Jr. and Thomas J. Gillespie III, both of whom preceded her in death.
She married Fred on Dec. 18, 1944, and had five children, Frederick J. (Eileen) Killmeyer III, Karen (John) Patterson, Scot Killmeyer, Stacie (Mike) Lowery and Jan (Nick) DeMartini; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She married Tom Gillespie on June 28, 1999, and loved his children, Thomas (Chris) Gillespie IV, Louise (David) Cannon, Carolyn (Dennis) Raetzke and David (Trish) Gillespie; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Gladys cherished her family and friends and loved to laugh at a good joke. She was always up for a party and loved to be with people and travel the world.
She loved flowers and enjoyed making arrangements. She was a lifelong member of the Butler Garden Club, the Butler Country Club and Grand Harbor Club in Vero Beach.
She was a former member of the board of directors of Hosanna Industries and former co-chairman of the Pittsburgh Opera Auxiliary and a member of the Republican Women.
She was preceded in death by her son, Frederick “Rick,” in 2008 and both her husbands.
Gladys faithfully attended the Nixon Methodist Church and the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.
She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
GILLESPIE — Friends of Gladys Killmeyer Gillespie, who died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.A memorial service to celebrate a life well lived will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Donn Ed will officiate.
