George R. Burd Sr.
George R. Burd Sr., 63, of Sarver passed away Tuesday at UPMC Shadyside.
Born March 19, 1952, in Natrona Heights, he was the son of Robert J. Burd and Alice (Kelley) Durci.
George was a 1970 graduate of Knoch High School and attended Butler County Community College.
George was a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, retiring as a major. He worked as a dispatcher for Vogel Disposal in Mars.
George was a member of the Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Sarver. He enjoyed hunting and auctions.
Surviving are his sons, George (Tracy) Burd Jr. of Cranberry Township and Andrew (Andrea) Burd of Saxonburg; his daughter, Ashley Burd of Saxonburg; his mother, Alice (Kelley) Durci of Sarver; his brother, Glenn (Melanie) Burd of Sarver; his sister, Carol Bowser of Sarver; his half-sister, Connie Durci of Sarver; two grandchildren, Nikolai and Kira; three step-grandchildren, Cody, Tyler and Kierra; his nephew, Ryan Bowser of Cabot; his niece, Lindsay Bowser of Sarver; and his canine companion, Samson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Burd.
BURD — Friends of George R. Burd Sr., who died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Barry Keurulainen officiating.
