Donald F. Cunningham, 79, of Butler passed away Sunday at Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Butler, the son of the late Floyd Cunningham and the late Dorothy (Unverzagt) Cunningham.

Don was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He retired from Ericsson Business Communications and also had worked at People's, United, Northwestern and General Telephone companies.

Don was the commander of the American Legion Post 243. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra “Cookie” Cunningham of Butler, who he married July 18, 1959; one daughter, Patricia Accosta of Florida; two sons, Donald Cunningham Jr. and Michael Cunningham, both of Butler; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley Sherman.

CUNNINGHAM — A celebration of life for Donald F. Cunningham, who died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion Post 243, 1431 West Sunbury Road, West Sunbury.

Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 243 in West Sunbury.
