Nancy “Nunziata” (Sanelli) Matijak

Nancy “Nunziata” (Sanelli) Matijak, 83, formerly of Kaylor, Bradys Bend Township, died Friday at Huntington Hills Rehabilitation, Melville, N.Y.

Born July 2, 1932, in Bradys Bend, she was the daughter of Anthony and Concettina (D'Alano) Colella Sanelli.

Nancy attended Pine Run School and graduated from East Brady High School in 1950.

After graduation, she worked at Penn Drake in Karns City for a few years then was a homemaker.

A lifelong member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Bradys Bend, she actively participated in the Altar Rosary Society and the Young at Heart. She was also a member of the Bradys Bend Son's of Italy Rinascenza Italica Lodge 1484, where she enjoyed volunteering.

Nancy's greatest pleasures were spending time with her family, participating in church activities, traveling, hosting large parties and cooking.

She is survived by one son, Paul (Anthony Vento) Matijak of Palmetto Fla.; and four daughters, Elaine (Joseph) Curran of Bradys Bend, Patricia (Martin) Bovee of Munhall, Pa., Karen (Karen Wolff) Matijak of Huntington, N.Y., and Lori Briggs of Raleigh, N.C.

Nancy is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Debra, Bridget and Joseph Curran, Matthew (Jonelle), Martin (Anna) and Michael Bovee, Delaney, Kennedy and Tanner Briggs, Jordan and Spencer Matijak; one great-grandchild, Eve Bovee; one sister, Anna (Sanelli) Yates of Broadview Heights, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who she married Sept. 6, 1952, and who died Jan. 25, 2001; an infant son, Kevin; her parents; two sisters, Susan (Colella) D'Atri and Frances (Colella) Bratkovich; and three brothers, Octavio Colella, Anthony Colella and Peter Sanelli.

MATIJAK — Friends of Nancy “Nunziata” (Sanelli) Matijak, who died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Buechele Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.A Parish prayer service will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend, with the Rev. John Butler officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery.The Matijak Family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Nancy's name to St. Patrick Church, 915 State Route 68, East Brady, PA 16028.
