Herta E. (Winkelman) Worsley
Herta E. (Winkelman) Worsley, 92, a resident of Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot, formerly of Highfield, Pa., passed away on Monday.
Born April 23, 1923, in Siselen, Switzerland, she was the daughter of the late Ernst and Ella (Linder) Winkelman.
Herta was a longtime faithful member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler.
During World War II, she worked for Spaide Shirt Factory in Butler, which produced uniforms for our troops. In 1989, she retired from Magnetics in East Butler as a scheduler in the metals department.
Herta was a member of VFW Post 249 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post 778 Ladies Auxiliary.
An avid bowler until the age of 85, she was a member of four bowling leagues, the Jolly Girls league, the Starlite league, the Spice Girls league and the Sunrise league.
In her 70s, Herta had the amazing opportunity of playing in the basketball league for the Senior Olympics in Shippensburg, Pa., with her sister and dear friend, Doris Seth.
Her generous spirit allowed her to volunteer at Katie's Kitchen at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. But above all, Herta will be most remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Albert E. (Paula) Worsley of Butler; her four daughters, Carol (Robert) Robb of Carlisle, Pa., Sue (Robert) Uram of Butler, Roxanne H. Worsley of Butler and Jamie M. Worsley-Franchuk of Renfrew; her sister, Doris Seth; her 11 grandchildren, Denice Stevenson, James P. Worsley, Jason Robb, Bryan Worsley, Tracy Rose, Amber Uram, Jessica Hilliard, Joel Folk, Derek Folk, Kirsten Franchuk and Karli Franchuk; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James M. Worsley whom she married Dec. 14, 1945, and who passed away May 12, 2006; and two sisters, Ericka “Pat” Rivers and Ruth Logan.
WORSLEY — The family of Herta E. (Winkelman) Worsley, who died Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Centerof Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
