Operation Christmas Child — the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind — has three collection sites in Butler County operating through Monday.

St. John’s Reformed Church, 494 Evans City Road, Butler

Three Rivers Free Will Baptist Church, 20401 Route 19, Cranberry Township

Mars Alliance Church, 997 Route 228, Mars

For each site’s collection time, go to www.samaritanspurse.org/occ.

Every year area residents fill shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and personal notes that will be delivered to children in need around the world.

[naviga:h3]Program features Harmony trolleys[/naviga:h3]

EVANS CITY — The Harmony Line Trolleys will be the focus at the Evans City Area Historical Society meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the community room of the Evans City Library 204 S. Jackson St.

[naviga:h3]Butler library marks holidays[/naviga:h3]

The Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., will host its Light-Up Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4.

In addition to lighting the tree and library lights, there will be a hot chocolate bar, holiday crafts for all ages, holiday music, caroling and a visit from Santa Claus.

Other holiday library programs include gingerbread house decorating at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and the Polar Express Party at 6 p.m. Dec. 17.

[naviga:h3]Christmas cookie sale scheduled[/naviga:h3]

CHICORA — North Butler Presbyterian Church, 137 N. Butler Church Road, will have a Christmas cookie sale Dec. 5.

Assorted homemade cookies will be available but must be ordered in advance. To order, call Donna Moser at 724-282-1992.

The cookies will be ready for pick up from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 5.
