Dorothy M. Bruner McBurney
Dorothy M. Bruner McBurney of Grove City, formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away Thursday at 2:15 p.m. in Orchard Manor. She was 79.
She was born in Salem, Ohio on June 23, 1936, to A. Kenneth and Hazel E. Kauffman Yoder.
Dorothy was married to Norman E. McBurney on Oct. 29, 1988, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2000.
Dorothy was a graduate of New Wilmington High School, Class of 1954.
She was a homemaker and formerly she was a waitress at the Isaly's Restaurant in Slippery Rock for many years.
Dorothy also was a self-employed seamstress in the area.
She was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church, Grove City, and while living in Slippery Rock she attended Highland Presbyterian Church.
Dorothy was a resident of Orchard Manor for the past two years.
The family wishes to thank the staff for their care and compassion shown to their mother.
Survivors include four children, Patricia Bruner of Grove City, Richard Bruner of New Wilmington, Thomas Bruner of Mercer and George L. Bruner of Grove City; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one stepson, Jack McBurney and wife, Eve, of Slippery Rock; and one brother, Daniel Yoder and wife, Cheryl, of Michigan.
Other than her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Alton Bruner; and a brother, Cletus Yoder.
MCBURNEY — Visitation hours for Dorothy M. Bruner McBurney, who died on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.Burial will be at Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
