Joyce E. Wisdom
Joyce E. Wisdom, 87, of Butler passed away Wednesday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Basingstoke, England, the daughter of the late Tobias and Mable (Blakley) Newell.
Joyce had worked as a coding supervisor for Nationwide Insurance in 1952 in Harrisburg, and then in 1955 came to open the Butler location. In 1980, she transferred to Ohio and then retired in 1984. She volunteered at Tax Aid and also at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda Ferguson of Butler; two grandchildren, Jessica (John Nero) Podobensky of Butler and Kenneth Ferguson of New Castle; and four great-grandsons, Dalton, Dominic, William and Jeremy.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer K. Wisdom, who she married Sept. 18, 1946, and who passed away Jan. 27, 1998, one sister and one brother.
