ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate and Penn State Behrend forward Anthony Crivelli has been named first team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in men's soccer.

Crivelli led the team with 26 points and was second with 10 goals this season. He has made All-AMCC in each of his three years at Behrend.

[naviga:h3]Bilka, Weyand gain soccer honors[/naviga:h3]

ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate and Penn State Behrend junior women's soccer forward Alex Bilka has been named AMCC Offensive Player of the Year.

Butler graduate and Behrend sophomore defender Rachel Weyand made All-AMCC first team.

Bilka led the league with 41 points and 11 assists. She was second with 15 goals. She is the only player in the nation with four assists in one game this year and she owns Behrend career records of 44 goals and 111 points.

Weyand scored four goals and 14 points this season and helped a defense that limited conference foes to 11 goals in 10 games, including six shutouts.

MOSCOW — Facing allegations that Russia engages in extensive, state-sponsored doping, President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday called on sports officials to carry out an internal investigation - but said that clean athletes shouldn’t be punished for the actions of those who take banned drugs.

Putin’s comments at a late-night meeting in Sochi, the city that hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics, reflected concerns that Russia’s track and field athletes could be hit with a blanket ban for next year’s summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Putin ordered Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko and “all colleagues connected with sport” to pay close attention to the doping allegations and for an internal investigation to be conducted.

[naviga:h3]Yankees dealing at GM meetings[/naviga:h3]

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is following through on his vow to start transforming the team quickly this offseason, acquiring switch-hitting outfielder Aaron Hicks from Minnesota for catcher John Ryan Murphy and dealing infielder Jose Pirela to San Diego.

Hicks hit .256 with 11 homers and 33 RBIs in 97 games for the Twins this year, including .307 with six homers against left-handers.
