HARMONY — Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., hosts its WeihnachtsMarkt, a German-style Christmas Market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The annual fundraiser celebrates the historic community’s German roots while providing artisanal vendors, entertainment and refreshments.

Admission of $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $3 for students, and free for children younger than 6 provides all-day access to the market, entertainment, the Christmas-decorated museum including on-loan Nativities, and historic district wagon rides. Event proceeds support museum operations.

[naviga:h3]‘Charlie Brown’ tickets available[/naviga:h3]

Tickets for Butler Little Theatre’s production of the revised musical version of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” be available for BLT members on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Nov. 19. The price is $12.

The play features Justin Anderson, Megan Flannery, Matt Leslie, Molly Miller, Samantha Roth and Daniel Terwilliger. Director is Stefan Lingenfelter and producer is Karen O’Donnell.

Shows are Nov. 27 to 29 and Dec. 1 to 5. Curtain is at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

WINFIELD TWP — A holiday bagpipe and organ concert is planned for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at The Sower’s Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road.

Performing will be vocalist and bagpiper Michelle Hardt and organist Sally Parenti. Refreshments will follow the program.

[naviga:h3]Handbell choir to perform[/naviga:h3]

GROVE CITY — The Celebration Ringers, a community handbell choir, will present the annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Tower Presbyterian Church, 248 S. Broad St.

Also participating will be the Revelation Ringers, a Grove City College student group, and Sue Garton, a handbell solo ringer.

Selections will include “Blue Christmas,” “Do You Hear What I Hear,” “Huron Carol” and “Ukrainian Bell Carol.”

The Celebration Ringers come from Grove City, Slippery Rock, Hermitage, Emlenton and Berlin, Somerset County. The director is Jennifer Cupak of Slippery Rock.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted to help the choir buy additional music.

FOXBURG — Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts presents the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra at 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School, 776 Route 58.

Selections will include works by Wagner, Bernstein and Puccini. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for parents with students, and free for students and children under 6.

[naviga:h3]Jimmy Stewart jacket displayed[/naviga:h3]

PITTSBURGH — Visitors to the Senator John Heinz History Center can now see the World War II flight jacket of actor, decorated veteran, and Indiana, Pa., native Jimmy Stewart as part of the museum’s “We Can Do It! WWII” exhibition.

After joining the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941, Stewart flew on 20 bombing runs into Germany as a B-24 combat leader and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and the French Croix de Guerre for his service during the war.

As an actor, Stewart won an Academy Award for his leading role in “The Philadelphia Story” and starred in the Frank Capra classic 1946 film, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

In addition to the jacket and other items, visitors to the exhibit can learn about the development of the Jeep.

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh CLO will celebrate 70 years during its 2016 summer season.

[naviga:h3]Harmony walk rescheduled[/naviga:h3]

HARMONY — The commemoration of George Washington’s 1753 mission to the Ohio Country, originally scheduled for Nov. 28, has been rescheduled to February to coincide with another traditional Washington observance.

Washington’s Trail 1753, Historic Harmony and the Butler County chapter of North Country Trail Association have agreed to combine efforts around the trail group’s annual Cherry Pie Hike on Feb. 20.

That program, based at Jennings Environmental Education Center in Brady Township recognizes Washington’s Feb. 22 birthday and has focused on promoting the 4,600-mile North Country Trail that passes through Butler County.

The Cherry Pie Hike will be expanded to include participation of re-enactors and historical presentations addressing the 21-year-old Virginia Colony major’s 1753 mission that helped spark the French and Indian War.
