Scott L. Brandt

Scott L. Brandt Sr., 88, of Butler passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler, while surrounded by his family.

Born Jan. 17, 1927, in Harmony, he was a son of the late Charles Silas and Blanche Mildred (Schiedemantle) Brandt.

He was employed by Armco Steel in the melt shop department, retiring in 1988 following 33 years of service.

He also worked as a constable and a dog officer for Butler County.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, China Marines, during World War II.

He also served in the 6th Marine Division in the South Pacific.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.

He also was a member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and also the VFW in Butler.

He enjoyed hunting and bowling, having served on the bowling league for Armco Steel.

Surviving are three sons, Gary (CeCe) Brandt of Las Vegas, Nev., David (Candace) Brandt of Houston, Texas, and Scott (Patricia) Brandt Jr. of Butler; a daughter, Terri (Jeff) Molczan of Butler; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Brandt of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Norma Miloser of N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Sichak) Brandt, who passed away May 8, 2012; three sisters and a brother.

BRANDT — Friends of Scott L. Brandt, Sr., who died on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, to officiate.Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Butler.A Parastas service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA. 15222.
