Earl L. Phipps
Earl L. Phipps, 84, of Prospect passed away Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 29, 1930, in Butler, he was the son of the late Paul V. and Nellie I. Heckard Phipps.
He was a Presbyterian, and he enjoyed hunting.
Earl was a U.S. Army veteran, who proudly served his country during the Korean War.
After 38 years, he was retired from Butler Armco, now AK Steel.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Phipps of Prospect and James (Elena) Phipps of Buffalo, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Joshua (Bobbie Jo) Phipps of Harmony, Tyler Phipps of Sydney, Australia, and Kayla Phipps of Buffalo, N.Y.; one great-grandson, Jaden Phipps of Harmony; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Mae Phipps, who he married July 17, 1951, and who passed away June 10, 2006; and a number of brothers and sisters.
PHIPPS — Friends of Earl L. Phipps, who died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Cort, pastor of the Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church, officiating.
