Sexual assault case filed
BRADY TWP — A Mercer County man was arrested Wednesday on charges he sexually assaulted a child over six years in Butler County.
Gerald A. Huntington, 39, of Sandy Lake, who allegedly started abusing the girl when she was 12, is in the Butler County Prison on $100,000 cash bail.
State police said the girl’s recent disclosure to a school guidance counselor ultimately led to their investigation last month.
The accuser told authorities that Huntington began forcing her to perform sex acts on him at a Brady Township home in 2009 when she was in the seventh grade, according to court documents.
He also fondled the child and eventually forced her to have intercourse, police said. The sexual abuse continued into this year, according to police.
Trooper Max Deluca on Wednesday interviewed Huntington, who admitted that “he had been sexually active with the victim for several years,” according to a police affidavit.
Huntington was arraigned Wednesday on felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, child endangerment and corruption of minors.
He also is charged with indecent assault, a misdemeanor.
A preliminary hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. Oct. 28 before Senior District Judge William Fagley in Slippery Rock.
