Events honor student who died
BUTLER TWP — Butler High School students, parents and school officials are planning activities Friday to honor the memory of Ethan Linnon.
Ethan, who was a senior at the high school, died early Saturday in a car crash in Penn Township.
Starting at 4 p.m. people will gather in the high school’s lower parking lot where 200 black and gold balloons will be handed out.
Following a prayer, the balloons will be released. This event is being organized by a group of mothers of students, said Sheri Henderson, one of the mothers.
The Butler football team will take on Fox Chapel at 7:30 p.m. It is the final home game of the season and senior night for Butler.
Before the pregame ceremonies start, about 7:05 p.m., the crowd will observe a moment of silence and a group of students will release a Chinese lantern in Ethan’s honor, according to William Mylan, athletic director.
