Library hosts Chisolm talkCRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Public Library, 2525 Rochester Road, will host Darieth Chisolm, former WPXI news anchor, from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10.Chisolm is also a business coach, author, entrepreneur and video podcast show host. She will present, “Hustle! Why Now is the Time to Unleash Your Passions,” which discusses why she quit her job, sold her business, dived into podcasting and became a life and business coach.She will sign copies of her book of the same title. Symphony to play ‘Psycho’The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will combine the sounds of the orchestra with the film “Psycho” in a unique presentation at its next concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Butler Intermediate High School.“Psycho,” the 1960 thriller-horror film directed by Alfred Hitchcock starring Anthony Perkins, is recommended for mature audiences.Tickets are $23 for adults and $5.50 for students. Student sings with choirPITTSBURGH — The Junior Mendelssohn Choir will present its annual concert at 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at Third Presbyterian Church, 5701 Fifth Ave., and Katheryn Wethli of Cranberry Township will participate.The soprano is the daughter of Ed and Robin Wethli of Cranberry Township. She is in her fourth year as a student at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.The choir is to perform Giovanni Pergolesi‘s “Magnificat.” A post-concert reception will be held in the church’s social hall.

Dark Sky star party plannedFRAZER TWP, Allegheny County — A Dark Sky, mid-Autumn star party sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh is planned for Nov. 7 at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, near Russellton.It is the last scheduled public event for 2015 at the observatory. SRU brass group to playPITTSBURGH — The Slippery Rock University Brass Ensemble will perform “Music for Cathedrals” at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road.The performance will feature works by Gabrieli, Bach and Bruckner, among others.Performing with the ensemble will be Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra trumpeter and SRU faculty member Chad Winkler, accompanied by Memorial Park organist Gail Henry.
