Annual nature show set
The Associated Artists of Butler County will present the annual Nature and Wildlife Art Show starting Oct. 30 at the Butler Art Center.
A reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 30. The Harmony Hot Haus Band will provide entertainment, and light refreshments will be served. Admission is free.
Artists will be exhibiting varied views of nature and wildlife.
The artwork will be in five categories: painting, drawing, photography and digital art, mixed media and collage, and 3-D (sculpture, fiber art and ceramics).
Cash and ribbons will be awarded to the top two finishers in each category.
Art entries must be submitted by this Saturday.
The exhibit will run through Nov. 20.
The Art Center also is collecting for Toys for Tots again this year. New, unwrapped toys are needed.
Family art
A Family Art Afternoon: Halloween Masks is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Art Center.
Participants will create masks under the direction of Mauricia Torres. All supplies to create individual masks from recycled water jugs will be provided.
Cost is $10 per child. Adults are required to stay with their children during the event. Space is limited to 12 children. Call 724-283-6922 for reservations.
The Art Center at 344 S. Main St. is open noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
Starting Nov. 1, winter hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
Underground Gallery
Halloween activities continue with live bands followed by a shadowcast of “Vampires Of Suck” performed by director Aria Kriebel and the Underground Players on Friday and Oct. 31 at the Art Center.
