The management staff of the Butler County Prison has new certifications.

Warden Joe DeMore along with deputy wardens Phill Shaffer and Beau Sneddon this month passed the Certified Corrections Executive exam offered through American Correctional Association, DeMore told the prison board Tuesday.

Additionally, in June DeMore passed the Certified Jail Manager exam of the American Jail Association.

Sheriff Mike Slupe, who is on the prison board, said the prison is the only facility in the state with more than one certified executive, and DeMore is the only warden in the state to be both a certified executive and jail manager. DeMore is one of only 13 correctional workers in the state to be a certified jail manager.

Commissioner Dale Pinkerton, board chairman, praised the work of DeMore, who became warden in July.

“We’re really pleased with the job you’re doing,” Pinkerton said.
