Bernard B. Barger

Bernard B. Barger, 89, of Butler passed away at 2:32 p.m. Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born July 9, 1926, in Youngs-town, Ohio, to the late Raymond Barger and Estella (Bartley) Barger.

Mr. Barger was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in World War II in the Pacific and Korean War.

He worked as a crane operator at Armco for 37 years, retiring in 1986.

Mr. Barger was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and enjoyed restoring and judging antique cars. He enjoyed hunting and especially spending time with his family.

Mr. Barger was a Protestant.

Mr. Barger is survived by his wife, Janet (Armstrong) Barger, who he married Sept. 4, 1954; one son, Timothy Barger and his wife, Patricia, of Washington, Pa.; two daughters, Lorrie Sherron and her husband, Tommy, of Hockessin, Del., and Jill McVaugh and her husband, Tim, of Mars; five grandchildren, Denise and David Barger, Jessica Martin and Ian and Aaron McVaugh; one great-grandson, Evan Martin; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Sherron; one brother, Myron Barger and his wife, Joyce, of Blairsville; two sisters, Barbara Ruffner of Butler and Sandra Merchant of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Conrad Barger, and one sister, Phyllis Brietmus.

BARGER — Friends of Bernard B. Barger, who died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Private burial will take place at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Slippery Rock Township.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Greater Pittsburgh, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
