Tax Increment Financing district proposed in Center Township
CENTER TWP — Township supervisors Wednesday night heard how a special tax district, known as Tax Increment Financing, would work on property on which a new VA Butler Healthcare center would be built.
Township engineer Ron Olsen said none of the real estate tax money that would be diverted to pay for roads and other infrastructure would be used on the VA project or the 46 acres on which it would sit.
The money would be used to enhance the development potential on the other 100 acres that adjoins the site.
The supervisors, Butler School Board members and Butler County commissioners would have to agree on the size and length of the tax diversion before a TIF could be started.
