Suspect allegedly stole money from elderly men's wallets
JEFFERSON TWP — A thief on consecutive days stole more than $100 in currency from each of the wallets of two elderly men who live at a nursing home, state police said.
The suspect, who investigators only identified as a female, portrayed a staff member to get into the victims’ rooms at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries assisted living facility on Marwood Road.
Police believe she first struck about 4:15 p.m. Sunday when she entered the facility through a resident’s rear patio door. She made her way into the rooms of several other residents at the Haven 1 building under the ruse she worked there, according to a police report.
She eventually got inside an 89-year-old man’s room and took about $120 from his wallet.
The suspect returned to the facility about 12:30 p.m. Monday and used the same tactics to get into a 94-year-old man’s room at the Haven 2 building, police said. She stole about $150 from that man’s wallet.
Police said their investigation continues.
