Ronald M. “Moose” Leight

Ronald M. “Moose” Leight, 75, of Butler passed away Sept. 1 at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 2, 1940, in Butler to the late Lloyd E. Leight and Marian L. (Cottrill) Leight.

Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He worked as a dock worker and furniture builder for Black and White Express and Kerns Furniture.

Ron was a life member of the D.A.V. He loved music, tinkering with wood and especially spending time with Jude. Ron was a member of the North Street Christian Church.

Ron is survived by his wife, Judith I. “Jude” Leight, who he married Oct. 26, 1961; one son, James Leight and his companion, Latosha, of Coopers Cove, Texas; one daughter, Cherie L. Loomis and her husband, Kevin, of West Sunbury; four grandchildren, Scott Loomis, Matthew Loomis and his wife, Amanda, Joshua Loomis and his wife, Lisa, and Christian Leight; three step-grandchildren, Efrain, Defrain and Anthony Rodriguez; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Hailee and Braylin Loomis; one brother, Ed “Buck” Leight of Butler; one sister, Florence “Sis” Buongiorne of Rochester, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd “Bebe” and Gary Leight.

LEIGHT — Friends of Ronald M. “Moose” Leight, who died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, will be received from 5 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. Thursday at the North Street Christian Church, 220 W. North St., Butler, with the Rev. Bob Huber, pastor of the North Street Christian Church, officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to D.A.V., General Butler 64, P.O.
