Pink Bra Tour back for its 5th year Oct. 17
The buses are nearly full again this year for the 5th annual Pink Lemonade Pink Bra Tour on Oct. 17, but there is room for a few more people.
Two party buses with a combined 104 seats will visit a string of bars. The participants will meet and register during happy hour at 6:30 p.m. at the Belmont II.
The buses will leave at 7:45 p.m., visiting the Monroe Hotel, Crossbow Lounge, Rock Ann Haven and 11th Frame Bar and Grille.
The participants will be returned to the Belmont II about 1:45 a.m.
Alexis Dumbaugh, event co-founder, said there will be the usual prizes and attire, pink bras worn over shirts, but this year’s event will have a few surprises to celebrate its fifth year.
The organization started in 2008 with a simple scrapbooking event. Now it has the pub crawl and also an annual New Year’s Eve gala.
The group also hosted a spaghetti dinner for a cancer victim.
Dumbaugh said support and donations continue to increase.
The group donates its funds to the Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh affiliate, but the donations benefit local needs. The tour brought in $6,000 last year.
The Komen organization recognized Pink Lemonade’s efforts, placing it in the No. 1 spot on its 2014 and 2015 Pittsburgh Komen Pink Honor Roll.
Dumbaugh said she would like to develop into a bigger organization. She said Pink Lemonade wants become its own nonprofit organization by 2016 to better help the county.
“Dreaming big, I would love to actually have an office where Pink Lemonade could be affiliated with the local cancer clinics to provide vouchers, support and help breast cancer patients right here in Butler,” she said.
